Taking Control of the Situation

With the demands for equipment in manufacturing facilities today, it is important to have systems that automatically keep track of internal processes. For production systems that require air, gas, or other fluid, a flow meter is an invaluable tool to keep track of how fast or how much of a gas or fluid is travelling through or between systems. For example, a device such as this unit mass flow controller can measure and control flow in an industrial process control environment. Gas mass flow rates up to 1,000 slpm, or standard liters per minute, can be measured and controlled.

That is a high volume. Used in industries such as food, beverage, and chemical processing, an ultrasonic flow meter hooks up to a pipe. Some of them show the values on a digital display and function in below-zero temperatures up to hundreds of degrees. Depending on the process, temperatures range widely in factories. It is important to have such a device that can tolerate the force and damaging effects of liquids and materials with various densities in these different temperatures. If it weren’t for these meters and controllers, the situation at many factories and plants would be way out of control.
