Saving Energy Costs for the Company

One day when I was working, I read something in the newspaper about how the detection of compressed air flow is the best way to allocate a company’s energy costs. Since I work as the plant manager in the manufacturing plant, I decided to look into this matter further.
At the bottom of the article that I had been reading was the telephone number of a local company that specializes in mass flow measurement, so I called them to see how this could maybe help optimize the energy use in our plant. The information that I found out was extremely helpful and the salesman was very nice. He wasn’t too pushy, like some salesmen are; he simply delivered to me the facts and benefits of using a mass flow meter in our plant. I was so impressed with the information that I discussed this option with my team and other plant managers. When everyone agreed that it was a good decision, we started fitting our system with many of their air inline flow meters and began monitoring the sensor data. As suspected by all of the plant managers in our facility, there was a significant amount of gas that has been flowing to an area of plant that is no longer being productively used. After quickly correcting the wasteful anomaly, there was a substantial energy savings. I felt great about saving money for the company and now I think that I’ll ask for a raise.
