For a number of years, my family has run a photo shop in town.  Back in the days of film based photography, the company did very well as they were the only film developer in town.  They made a good name for themselves, and over the course of many years their business flourished.

Things changed when digital photography became popular.  People no longer wanted to take their pictures in to get printed and they lost a number of clients thanks to photo printers.  For awhile there, they were considering closing shop, but thankfully my sister came up with a great idea: they should carry photo gifts.

It took a lot of research and phone calls for them to find a supplier for the equipment that they would need to offer their clients specialized photo products.  It was a process that took some time and a trip to the bank for financing, but three months after they decided to offer photo gifts at their shop, they finally had their grand reopening and waited patiently to see what would happen.

Their first sale was a photo pillow and a photo blanket to my childhood babysitter and since then they haven’t looked back.  They carry a large supply of photo gifts now and people travel many miles to take advantage of the great pricing that they have on their line of specialized photo products.
