Different Types of Bloggers
By Bookmark in Internet | 1 comment
Although we typically think of blogging as a personal form of writing, like an online journal, in fact blogging can take on many different forms. As a result, there are many different types of bloggers out there.
- The personal blogger or social networker – This type of blogger isn’t blogging for any particularly reason. They don’t need higher search engine rankings or inbound links. They’re blogging to keep in touch with friends and family, as an alternative to journaling, or in the hopes of meeting and getting to know new people.
- The company blog do-it-yourselfer – This type of blogger is usually a sole proprietor or small business owner. S/he is using a company blog as a marketing tool, and writing and maintaining the blog her- or himself, rather than paying for Internet marketing services. Successful blogging can be quite demanding of one’s time, so this type of blogger may or may not succeed.
- The link building expert – This type of blogger maintains blogs as part of his or her Internet marketing services. One way for businesses to boost their websites’ search engine rankings is to have a lot of links pointing back to the site — this indicates to Google that the site is well liked. Many businesses who don’t have the time or the know-how to do this themselves are willing to pay for link building services, also known as link popularity services.
- The corporate blogger – Oftentimes, large companies will have a blogger on staff in their PR or marketing departments to maintain a company blog. This person’s goal is to use the blog to create or support “branding” — which is what it is called when a company’s name becomes synonymous with the product’s name. (For example, Americans frequently say “Kleenex” when they mean “tissue” or “Xerox” when they mean “copy.”) These bloggers may also be contract writers or consultants, and generally are highly experienced with blogging and keyword usage.
Although there are many different types of bloggers out there, contributing to many different blogs, this variety works well because it ensures that there is always something to appeal to everyone in the blogosphere!
