Limitations of BMI

One of the best measurements that you can rely on to determine whether or not you need to lose weight is your body mass index or BMI. The BMI measures the percentage of fat in your body using a simple calculation that you can do yourself. It tells you whether your fat percentage falls within the range of normal. This is helpful when trying to determine whether or not to go on a diet such as the Diet Cookie Diet.

However, there are limitations to using BMI as an indicator of your overall need to lose weight. Although it’s fairly reliable, it can sometimes provide you with inaccurate information. The main limitation of the BMI is that it isn’t capable of taking your muscular structure into consideration. People who are especially muscular may be heavier and the BMI may overestimate the amount of fat in the body as a result.

It is because of this that it’s important to double check with a doctor before you start any new diets. Your doctor will be able to confirm whether or not the BMI is a good indicator of your need to lose weight. The doctor can also answer questions about your diet plan (such as cookie diet nutrition questions that may concern you) so that you can diet in a safe manner.
