body building supplimentsAbout six months ago I came to the realization that I had really let myself go. All of my life I have always maintained a reasonably healthy lifestyle. I am active and like to do fun things. However, I have never considered myself to be athletic. I just have a normal regime which includes activities like going for a long walk or hike with the dog. My normal regime also includes drinking beer and eating chicken wings though.

I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but my metabolism must have seriously changed. I think it was somewhere between 35 and 40. And it didn’t just happen overnight either. It took me a long time to get to 30% body fat.

How do I know I made it to 30% body fat? I went to a professional trainer and nutritionist. Walking through that gym door the first time was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I was never into bodybuilding. I thought that gyms were for posers with too much testosterone. I never would have thought that I would be the one buying bodybuilding supplements. But here I am, currently floating around 20% body fat and shooting for 17% because that is what would be considered athletic for a guy my age and height.
