My First Paper Cutter
By bookmarkAP in General | 0 comments
When I was a kid, my mom kept a closet stocked full of all kinds of art supplies for my sister and I. She was really big into encouraging our natural creativity, and had pretty much everything we could even dream of needing — paper, crayons, colored pencils, markers, paints, even fabric.
Once my mom even bought a paper cutter at a garage sale. It was the old fashioned kind, like the guillotine cutters you see now days, only with a wood base instead of metal or plastic, and a black painted metal arm with the blade attached. The blade was actually kind of dull, but we had fun with that thing.
Nowadays, I don’t think parents would ever consider buying a paper cutter for their children’s art closet. Paper cutters are also much better — and therefore, in a sense, much more dangerous — now than they used to be. They’re just not even feasible as children’s toys anymore. For example, electric paper cutters are designed to do the job better and faster than ever, but you’d never even consider getting one for your kid!
Sometimes I miss the good old days…
