I Dream of Sushi

Sushi and  sashimi is pretty much my favorite kind of food.  Some of my favorites are: anything with salmon, including salmon sashimi (raw salmon, no rice), and Hawaiian rolls, which is roll sushi that is (at least at my favorite restaurant) a California roll inside and alternating strips of maguro (tuna) and avocado across the top.

Unfortunately, we can’t often afford sushi, so it has been a little while since I’ve had it — nearly three months.  When I start thinking about sushi it makes me so hungry!  I could seriously eat it all the time.

I’ve often wondered how difficult it would be to make sushi.  There are plenty of instructions online for how to make sushi, and videos like the one below make it look so easy, but I wonder about other things, such as where to get fish that you can trust to be high enough quality to be eaten raw.

Personally, I think before I ever actually attempted to make sushi at home, I probably would want to look into sushi classes at our local cooking schools.  Local instructors would probably have some advice for where to get sushi-quality fish — not to mention I think it would be extremely helpful to learn how to make it in a classroom setting, with feedback from the instructor!
