One of the most secure jobs right now, I think, is working in the health care industry.  At least in Denver, I know hospitals and companies that provide at-home care have been hurting for nurses for quite a while, and therefore I can’t think of a more secure job in the current economy.

My sister-in-law happens to work in the eldercare industry, both providing care in people’s homes and in a facility.  People who require that kind of care at home have to have the proper equipment, of course — lift chairs and stair lifts and other types of equipment.  Some people even need so much care that in order to provide it for them at home, their family needs to arrange to have a hospital bed and related equipment brought in.

As you can imagine, some families are really willing to pay out a lot of money in order to allow their loved ones the opportunity to be cared for at home.  As a result home care providers are always looking for employees.  Registered nurses are always a bonus, but these companies may also hire and train employees without much (or any) prior experience.

Whether you work in a hospital or not, this is definitely a good industry to be in right now.  If you are lookking for a new job or a more stable career, this might well be the one for you!
