Outsourcing our Research and Marketing

As a business owner, it seems that I have my hands in many different areas of the business at any time. I might be working on payroll, but at the same time, I am formulating a marketing plan in my head which can sometimes get a little overwhelming. I realized that it was one of my problems, so I thought that I would work a little harder to make my job a little easier.
The aspect that I don’t like the most about our business is the marketing. Though initially it was a novelty and kept my interest, I am much more interested in working on the business than telling everyone about it. So, I decided that it would be smarter to outsource that aspect of it so that I could focus on what was important to me.
For the longest time we had been trying to discover the market demographics in our area. Though we had a rough idea what to expect, we had a new product that we were considering to develop, but we wanted to make sure that there was a market for it. We hired an independent firm to take care of the research for us, and the results turned out as we had expected - there were many people interested in what we were going to offer.
We were able to buy mailing lists of prospective customers in our area and have the marketing materials that had been developed sent out to them. The response was overwhelming and the project made more money for us than we had expected.
Since the results were so good, I have decided that in the future that we will outsource more of the projects that are not our specialty so that we can focus on what we do best: our business.
